MAGGI

My name is Maggi. I lived with my mom way out in the desert for 9 years with my brother Oidee. In August my brother and I were given to Sheltie Rescue because my Mom had to move and couldn't take us with her. She kept us out doors all the time and our coats were shaved. I loved Oidee very much and never spent a day without him. He was three years older than me. When we got in foster care we were allowed in the house and not only that, we were welcomed on the furniture, too! In November, Oidee became ill and passed away. I missed him a lot at first, however I am having a great time at my foster Mom's house. Every day seems to be getting better and better. My pretty tri-colored fur is all coming back now and I feel so pretty. I feel just like a queen and I am being treated like one, too! I have a doggie door so I can come and go whenever I want. I am house broken and I mostly prefer to be indoors, unless of course, someone comes out with me to play. I am allowed on the furniture for the first time in my life and I love it. I also like to walk and play fetch. I'm almost 10 years old now, but I feel much younger. I'm hoping for a family of my own soon. There are a few dogs here at my foster home and I like them all! I even play with two of them. My wish would be to have more one-on-one attention. If you have children over 12, that would be perfect! If you have another dog that likes to share and doesn't get jealous, I think we would get along. I think cats are okay too, as they are kind of independent and do not require that much human attention.  :-)

SCOOBY

Hi, my name is Scooby. I am 7 years old and quite handsome. My previous owner gave me up "because I kiss too much”. I LOVE giving kisses and feel really bad that they didn’t appreciate me. I will literally give you a bath from head to toe and will not stop till you cry "Uncle!" Please be ready to get slobbered on or teach me gently what my limits are. I am a bit frightened of people I don’t know. I am more comfortable around women, but I sure warmed up quickly to my foster Dad and really like him a lot! I am not thrilled about riding in cars, as the only time I rode in a car with my other family was when they took me to the vet or groomer. After some coaxing I will jump in the car, but I’m just not totally comfortable yet. I am also hesitant of tile floors but I can’t remember why.  My foster parents have worked on these behaviors a lot with me and I think that I can overcome them quickly if you’ll just give me some patience and time. Once I trust you, I will be your best friend for life!  I like other dogs too, but would do best with a more submissive dog, as I enjoy being #1. I love children but would do much better with older ones (12+). I really like to go for walks, play tug-a-war, and fetch. I will stand up and give you hugs on request, lie next to you on the couch or lie on my doggy bed. When I want your attention I will stare endlessly or lay my head on your lap and look up at you with my big brown eyes. I sit and lie down on command and come when called. I am an exuberant fellow who loves to chase squirrels and cats in my yard. When you run, my herding instinct shows as I try to nip at your heels, but if you don’t like that, you can tell me, as I learn quickly. I sure would like to be in my “forever” home for the holidays!

CHIQUITA BANANA

My name is Chiquita Banana and I am NOT a sheltie. I am mostly Chihuahua with some Terrier mixed in and I am about 6 years old. I was rescued by a lady from Sheltie Rescue because I had crooked back legs and my owners were going to have me put to sleep. She saw me and decided I deserved a second chance so I had surgery and now I walk as straight as any dog and have my old attitude back. I'm very loving with my people, probably would like to be an only dog as I tend to be jealous of my people when other dogs are around. I will sit in your lap or beside you on the couch, I love to be held and will fall asleep in your arms if I get the chance. I would not do well with small children but older kids would be lots of fun. I am a good watch dog so no one comes into my yard without me letting my people know. I am housebroken, friendly with the people at my vet’s office and now I need a family of my own to love. If I would fit into your family, please contact Kathy Parsons at 562-691-6038 and she will set up a time for us to meet.
